The Legend

Currently the Canton does not have a Chronicler to publish our regular monthly newsletter, so to keep folks up with the latest activities of the canton, we are posting the monthly meeting minutes. If you are interested in being our Chronicler please contact the Seneschal.

following is a summary of meeting minutes from Monday September 10th.

1. DragonCon is not actually an SCA event, but it was fun and well attended.

2. WoW Processional Heraldry. Tabard debate rages for another day. solution
is for anyone interested to make their own tabard or BALDRIC (ideal
solution) to wear.

b. Jessamyn has the canton emblem available to embroider. She volunteered
to embroider it for whoever needs it. Leave space of approx 4" x4"

c. Callidore has the canton banner for processional use

3. ScanFest (11/3 at Wachovia Atrium downtown Charlotte)-some talk of
attending for those who have Scandanavian garb, they want crafts, and also
fighters in appropriate armor. Fall Crown Tourney is happening here in the
south, the same weekend and the group is likely to split between the 2
events

4. 28-29 September, come support Brockshire Abbey (Barony of
Nottinghill Coill), a new group in Hartsille SC (near Florence/Darlington).
They are having a demo to benefit a local library-free camping and they need
fighers and artisans who are willing to help. Please contact them ahead of

5. Fighting update
a. No decision on a good day for regular fighting practice
b. we could do A&S and fighting at the same place on the same day
and be social.
c. Much excitement re: combat archery & siege, want to get people ready
for authorization.

6. Financial news- No recent expenditures; cash on hand

7. Advertising works to attract more newbies
a. Free ads in Creative Loafing, Rhinocerous Times, etc
b. Leaflets in comic shops etc. Graphics are available & SCA has some
templates.
c. Demos unlikely.
d. Insert your fabulous idea here

8. Market Day - Gawain looking into doing this as a possible 1 day
event in Spring (April or May) as a "Spring Cleaning". Possible fighting or
other fun

9. Bellum quo paxis -was a collegium
for fighting, archery, A&S. Interest in trying this again?
